Network of Underwater Lines- Gulf of Mexico Grid Line Pattern

The image to the far right is the Gulf Coast region as seen on the NOAA 2 minute Surface of the Earth Relief Map Image. A large grid-like line pattern can be seen that almost looks like a city grid in plan.

The image above and to the left is a close-up of the topographic NOAA data for the Gulf of Mexico. The image above and to the right is color enhanced to reveal the grid-like pattern in detail.

The image animation to the left further illustrates the gridded pattern on the sea floor of the Gulf of Mexico.

It is uncertain if these features are natural, artificial or a glitch in the image data source.
