Dead Sea Anomalies
Image to the left was acquired by Spaceborne Imaging Radar-C/X-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SIR-C/X-SAR) onboard the space shuttle Endeavour as part of NASA's Mission to Planet Earth. The image can be acquired directly from the NASA site by clicking on the small snapshot to the left.
To the right the image has been enhanced to bring out details that can be seen below the surface of the Dead Sea. (Dark Area on the Image) The light green area is the shore line of the Dead Sea. Several areas, items A-F show apparent features that do not appear natural in origin. These areas are enlarged below. Please note, Item A, which are features on land, line up with item F which are features under the Dead Sea. Also Item E, which are features on the land, lines up with item D which is a feature under the Dead Sea.

A

Item A above reveals an area on the land that lines up with item F which is under the Dead Sea water.

B

Item B above reveals features that are very light in color which is suggestive of artificial placement on the landscape. The smaller circles denote features in a semicircle around the larger circle which contains the high albedo features.

C

Item C above reveals straight line features that can be seen in the upper left corner rectangle. Also circled are high albedo areas suggestive of artificial placement.

D

Item D above reveals a very prominent high albedo object on the floor of the Dead Sea. It is obvious this 'object' is of artificial construct due to it's high albedo and lack of similar, surrounding, high albedo features.

E

Area E above is a combined clip of Area D & E from the larger context image. Area D is in direct alignment with the dark green features, circled that are on the shoreline. The coloring of these shoreline features suggests these areas may also be artificial in nature. To the West of the landform circled features is another apparent high albedo area that is another possible artificial construct. The areas within the rectangles to the West reveal linear features that are artificial in origin.

F

Area F above also contains high albedo objects which suggests artificial construction. These objects line up perfectly with the objects on the shoreline in area A.

In conclusion, it is apparent that there may exist artificial constructs beneath the waters of the Dead Sea. The enlargements above also contain many features of interest other than the areas highlighted above by circles and rectangles. Many features on the enlargements are quite unusual in their placement and suggest an artificial origin that may in fact be related to the Biblical accounts of the story of the destruction of the cities Sodom and Gomorrah. More exploration and excavation are necessary to come to any firm conclusions, but it is hoped that by revealing these features, more interest in examining these areas by professional archaeologists will be stimulated and the use of Satellite image analysis for archaeological discovery will be seriously utilized.
