Rennes-le-Château, France- Megalithic 'wall' feature and the'Gates of Atlantis'

In a strange series of coincidences I had the opportunity to visit one of the most mysteries places on Earth, Rennes-le-Château France on 4 separate occasions from 2002-2004. The first time I visited France I was sent to a strange, rock feature called 'Pas de la Roque' about 2 miles from Rennes-le-Château in the South of France. The translation in English is 'not of the castles' although the locals referred to it as the 'step of the rock'. It varied in width approximately 8-15 feet and continued on the landscape for about a mile or more and originated from several large mounds, 'Pech de la Roque' translated as 'hill of the castles', most of the ruin was buried under the large hill beneath thousands of years of dirt and vegetation. Parts of another section may be present near Mt. Bugarach. Mt. Bugarach, known by geologists as an ancient, dormant volcano was the inspiration for the Jules Verne book, Journey to the Center of the Earth and the locals told some interesting myths about giants within the surrounding mountains. Jules Verne was supposedly a member of the Priory of Zion along with a list of geniuses and accomplished men including Leonardo Da Vinci.

Anyone familiar with the story of Rennes-le-Château and the mysterious priest Sauniere has heard of a possible Christian church mystery involving the life of Jesus with Mary Magdalene as his wife. This theme appears in the controversial book 'The DaVinci Code' by Dan Brown. The true story may be similar to the fictional depictions of his book in more than one way with the priest Sauniere becoming very interested in several paintings by Nicolaus Poussin, one just happens to contain a rock that is being used as a step. In the background one can see mountains that appear very similar to the landscape of France.

ADDITION: Notice the background mountains that resemble the numerous rock features near Rennes-le-Château and how they all appear to have a bluish color to them. This was also noted when filming the rock megaliths for the DVD- The French Megaliths, Blue Apples.

To those unfamiliar with the story of Rennes le Chateau please see below:

"In 1885, the young, educated priest was assigned to the tiny parish of Rennes-le-Château, an ancient Church reportedly dedicated to Mary Magdalen in 1059. Shortly after his arrival, while making repairs (some say he was deliberately snooping), he was to discover a set of documents hidden in the ancient altar stone of the church. This was the beginning of a mystery which persists to this day."(1)

After discovering the mysterious documents the priest Sauniere suddenly started spending huge amounts of money, built an elaborate chateau, Magdala tower, and began renovating the old church in a very bizarre fashion with the statue of a grotesque demon greeting those who enter the church. The story inspired the book 'Holy Blood, Holy Grail' and the book 'The DaVinci Code' which has become one of the top selling books in America.
'Wall' feature in France
Back to my experiences in France. During my first trip to France, I stopped the car and got out when I saw this strange rock along the road on my journey from Rennes-le-Château to Rennes-le-Bains, this rock area continued up the adjacent hill like a looming monolith. I immediately knew there was something to this feature that was not natural, and after inspecting the area and collecting rock samples on numerous occasions, I am almost positive this is an extremely large, megalithic construction sticking up out of the ground near Rennes-le-Château, most of it hasn't been excavated. It was extremely damaged in some places and still intact in other places and a 40 foot piece of it may be close to Mt. Bugarach.

Looking at this site from Google Earth
'the wall' area just appears to be part of a smaller mountain/hill range and after talking to the locals, some people considered it to be a natural feature, while still others hinted at a possible Atlantis connection. The satellite image of the site seen in the Google Earth image depicts an area that appears to look like a natural ridge line caused by a geological event, however after viewing the evidence on the ground this region of France may not be as natural as many believe.
The evidence I have collected includes revealing video footage that exposes a similar construction to this wall feature as Stonehenge with the use of possible tongue-and-groove joints.

Another area along this 'wall' reveals the interior in a cut away area and the inside stone is a pinkish sandstone color compared to the outside which seems to be much harder and darker in color. Seen in the image to the left. Below: An example of an area along the 'wall' that looks almost like a welding job but the material is a type of concrete that appears to have been in liquid form at some point. My conclusions were either a melted exterior or a type of concrete was placed on the outside of the giant blocks.
More areas of this 'wall' reveal an outer, dark surface that seems to have been melted with some type of high heat and the rock appears fused almost like looking at a welding job of some kind. The image to the right shows a section where the outer covering has fallen away to reveal the inner sandstone that is very easy to chisel compared to the exterior. Many of the giant blocks that compose the 'wall' appear to be very massive and weigh at least several tons or more each.

Strange linear features that may be some type of stone work tool marks were photographed on many of the rock surfaces that make up this 'wall' area and further on up the mountain a patch of rock was spotted that contained a strange enamel-like surface that was colored yellow, white and black, and only a few millimeters thick. This enamel surface was very smooth and almost seemed like some kind of decoration. The linear features on the rocks appear to be of a similar angle seen at both sites: Pas de la Roque and Sierre Mijane, on opposite sides of the road.

Another priest who may have profited after finding some type of church secret is the Abbe Boudet.(2)
I was amazed to find an old Celtic map that Abbe Boudet had created of the Rennes-le-Château area. This map refers to certain areas that contain megalithic menhirs. I was pleased to find the line that begins near 'the wall' feature continues in Boudet's map and it is labeled as being 'standing menhirs' possibly from the ancient Celts. Boudet had labeled the wall as a 'standing menhir' on his Celtic map!

The map reveals many standing menhirs in the area including a few on Pech Cardou. The line of the 'wall' extends from the top of Pech de la Roque to the hill referred to as 'Soula de la Carbonniere'. The 'wall' feature is circled in Boudet's map/image to the left.

Boudet's most important secret may have been hidden within the rocks of the Rennes-le-Château region, hidden within the landscape.
I was even more amazed when in France I met several people who each told me the legends of giants in the area near Rennes le Chateau and of a place the locals called 'the gates of Atlantis'. After arriving at this area, I noticed it looks very similar to the background of the painting by Poussin seen above, "Shepherds of Arcadie". The stone within this 'gates of Atlantis' area appeared to be the exact same composition as the stone at the 'wall' area with a pink sandstone interior and gray, harder exterior. The hills within this area contained a cornucopia of unusual rock formations jutting from the sides of steep ravines.

Although it is possible this whole area could be a natural, geological formation, the evidence suggests much more to these rock formations than meets the eye.

According to research the Phoenicians referred to the French Pyrenees as being home to the Titans, a race of giants. Legend states the Titans were drowned in a great flood and Atlas, king of Atlantis was a Titan aka a giant.

There are also rumors of a possible giant origin to the ruins of Montsegur closer to the Spain/France, Pyrenees border. Montsegur was the stronghold of the Knights Templars and the Cathars. The evidence suggests this area in France could contain some extremely unusual, and very large, megalithic buried structures.

A DVD is currently in production revealing the rock 'wall' megaliths and the area known by the locals as 'the Gates of Atlantis'. SEE THE VIDEO PREVIEW OF THE NEW DVD, THE FRENCH MEGALITHS, BLUE APPLES, HERE. You must have Flash player version 8 in order to see the video.
